hard brakes

My 91 XJ's brake pedal feels hard, like you are pushing on the ground. I changed the rear brakes, everything, and all the front was changed. I also blead everything.
I read some where to check the brake booster, now this is where I am feeling stupid...where is it at?? I know where it is normally, bolted to the master cylinder. On my XJ I dont see it there. It has abs And I traced lines , but I just don't know where it is.. So any help on both problems would be great.

The Brake Booster is located between the firewall and the master cylinder. it's a big round Pancake shaped metal. check the vacuum line going to the intake and the one way valve attached to a grommet on the booster. the valve is most likely to be at fault but you need to verify that.

My Jeep doent have the round booster behind the master cylinder.
I was told I have the Bendix ABS system..Getting ready to search it now.

I found a few things about the Bendix 9 ABS system. It was only on the 89- 91 cherokee limited, which I have..There is also a recall on it. Here is the info I have found sofar. I will get ahold of my Jeep dealer Monday.

the abs master cylinder uses an electric pump to boost the pressure and there is no booster unit. it sounds like your master cylinder may be bypassing, and the internal piston is all the way into the bore of the master cylinder so you;re pushing against the metal at the very end of the master cylinder. that is usually what causes the brake pedal to feel solid like that, but i'm not an expert on abs or xj's. hope this helps, john
