Need to pull out the tank, I have it most of the way out. 99 TJ

1) I cannot figure out how to disconnect the fuel pump wiring clip. Please tell me the secret. I hate electrical connectors. I can never figure them out. (first picture)

2) I cannot get the large flange to loosen up to remove the fuel pump. I read somewhere to hit it with a drift but I have been beating the snot out of it and it wont budge! (Second picture)

For the clip use a flathead and gently pry the clip lock out. And for the fuel pump top use a flat head and a hammer to gently tap it loose that's what I did. Now be careful cuz u may get unwanted debri into the tank

Now look at that clip "real closely" and you will see what he is talking about. That one threw me also when I fist ran into it. On the flange deal,I would get PB blaster and let it work for at least 12 hours, and then go at it. Keep spraying that thing down periodically dureing that 12 hours. Get PB Blaster at the parts store autozone is where I think I picked some up at.

okay im replacing my pump right now, so to pull it from the tank do i just rotate that big ring on the pump to loosen it?

Yes, unscrew the white plastic ring.

And for the connector, use a flat-head screwdriver to move the red locking clip to the side, then depress a lock tab to pull the two halves apart.

Mine wouldn't budge either, BFH and air hammer chisel and nothing, I finaly used a med sized flat screwdriver and drove it in to the plastic on the top outside edge knowing I may have to replace it but at least it will be off, finaly it loosened and without punching all the way through, all the pry-bars, chisels, and filter wrench did was break off tabs and slip. Eventually I got it.

you can if you get the wires right, I recently did this (last week in fact), and I decided that having 87k miles I wanted to do the fuel pressure unit as well, the fuel level sending unit I didnt care, they work for a long time, but Ive read so much about people loosing fuel pressure and getting hard to start, so I went with a full unit, I got mine from Rockauto, $174

btw, I liked the wrench idea, next time I have to do one I'll try to remember that lol

So rock auto has the full assembly for my jeep with the pump in the first link?

is that the highperformance option i was lookin at or no? cause im lookin to upgrade in the process....

i rebuilt the assembly and used the pump off summit that has the better performance, everything seems to be in order. However i dont think i have a fuel concern since its still dieing...
