Door vs Ignition key

Will a key cut to just open the doors, start the ignition?

by the way, thats how i did it. let the locksmith just work on the door, saved a bundle, and it started my ignition fine.

Now i got to herculiner the end of my key or somethin, i miss the black hard rubber.
