i just put a new motor in my 00 grand cherokee and now the dome lights will only come on if the key is in the ign. and the dash light wont turn out unless you turn the ign back one. another question is i have a grinding sound when i hit the brakes or go over a bump it starting to do it all the time now i think its in the abs but no light and the breakes are new

I don't know how i missed this one, sorry. Sounds like an electrical issue, possibly on the door ajar switch circuit since the lamp turns on with the key in the ignition. These are direct inputs to the Body control module. Some models have a programmable feature selected by the customer preference.

thank you i have a broken wire in my door the lock only work if the door is in the right spot thinking thats where the problem is does anyone know about the noise while braking

Bad brake pads....cracked/warped rotor.....sticking caliper.....ABS sensor faulty telling the brakes to grab. When does it do it? Only during braking? When crusing? Tell us more.

it only did it when braking at first then when you hit a bump and now if your going around a hard corner there's no abs light on and the brakes are new front and back and new rotors on the front

I would check the dust shield on the front rotors and or any components thats stationary and would have any contact to the moving components such as the rotor, caliper, axleshaft, etc. A good tell tale sign is a fresh metal shaving that indicates friction from another material. The next one to check is the wheel bearings.

had it ripped apart and doesn't look to be anything rubbing i replace the left front wheel bearing it was starting to grind but the noise is still there. is there anyway to check the abs pump

Just for the heck of it check your tone ring (guess that's what they call it) for scuff marks. The clearance between the tone ring on the axle shaft and the sensor mounted to the dust shield isn't much.
Haven't seen it, but was thinking a bad axle shaft U-joint or a hub could cause clearance issues.
I had mine rub, made kind of a ratcheting sound after a ball joint swap. My guess is I bumped the sensor and caused clearance problems between the sensor and the tone ring.
I'm glad I caught it early before it wore all the way through the sensor face.

The only way i know how to check the ABS system is with the use of the DRB3 which is a Chrysler scantool. This scantool can test the pump, dump valves, relay etc..I would suggest that you have it scanned for the ABS dtc. and see what the code is.
