I have to replace my dash lights on my YJ i took the speedometer cover off only to not know how to get to the lights. Is their a trick to pulling off the needle ?? I loosened the small screws but the needle stays put. How do I do this??? Is there a trick?? do you have to access from the back?? :-? lloks like the face plate has to come off but the needle wont budge without fear of breaking it.[addsig]

The lights are in the back. The ones I took out of my jeep had a blue plastic cover and I replaced them with ones that were just plain old bulbs all the way accross the dash and I like them better. The lighs in the spedometer and tach are in the back I believe there are two screws that hold the spedo to the dash.[addsig]

If you are ging to replace some bulbs now would be a good time to add white faces to your gauges. I have had mine apart twice lately, and not put on the white face covers. I am sorry cause now I will be opening her up again to do this. While you are in there clean the clear gauge covers with a plastic polish and take a can of air and blow everything out. Made a big difference in the looks of mine. good Luck Tug[addsig]

DO NOT TAKE OFF THE NEEDLE OR THE FACE PLATE. You only have to do this if you want to add new faces. The plastic part of the bulb holders in the back of the speedo and all the other gauges twist 1/4 turn and pull out of the back of the gauge. Then you just pull out the bulb. You may want to put in 194's they work and are a little brighter.[addsig]

take jeepr89's advise & buy enough to replace all of em'. I had to replace my speedo lamp quickly one dark night, and had a mulit-colored dash for quite a while before I got the ambition to replace all of them! ahh... much better now that I match! -JP[addsig]
