Had the same thing happen in Arizona last winter to my 4.0L 2001 TJ. Turned out that the fuel pump, which is located inside the fuel tank was the culprit. But, the problem originated from the wiring harness near the forward side of the transmission bell housing. The guys that installed my transmission didn't do such a good job. The wiring harness was not properly secured and was allowed to rub against the forward drive shaft, which shorted out the fuel pump. Good luck.
