Ok,
Do any of you have clayton lift kits on your jeep? I was thinking clayton because its the cheapest way to get lift and stretch at the same time. I was thinking 5.5 with 5 inch stretch. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Tom

Sounds good. I've never heard of them. What kind of lift is it? SOA?

They are awesome and just about indestructible, I have the short arm and my brother has the long arm. Both ride super smooth on and off road, but his LJ with the long arm is truly amazing. The quality, fit and workmanship is second to none and Clayton and Adam are great guys.

IMHO, Clayton makes the best off the shelf lift kit ever. (you will have to source coils) All components are built and designed by clayton himself, he uses high quality materials, and he's one heck of a driver. He is a east coast guy, had the chance to wheel with him a number of times. Real nice guy, you pay a lot for his kits, but well worth it, plus his customer service and attention to quality are amazing.

Wait I thought rock krawler was expensive. $3200 for 5.5 with 5 inch stretch seemed great to me

I think SOA means spring over axle, and only apples to leaf sprung app. I will look into other meanings and get back to you.

The differences between long and short arm are many. Short replaces the factory control arms but retains the locations of the mounts, creating steeper angles and transferring more road through to the occupants. Less articulation due to less droop and an easier install, just bolt it in.

Long arm lifts require new mounting brackets to be welded on as well as the old ones being removed, the break over angle is also less. How ever the ride quality is greatly enhanced, I can comfortably say much better then factory, and off road manners are truly amazing as this suspension eats just about any bump, rock, whoop or wash with ease and keeps all 4 wheels planted in all but the most extreme situations.
The list goes on and on......

Thanks and welcome to the site

4" is not going to clear 37s with out trimming and bump stops it is made for 35s so with just a lift you would need to go 5.5".
Thanks for the welcome, I always read these posts and it's nice to be able to respond on my phone from anywhere.

Ya I typed that way wrong, I ment he sources coils. (he sells not makes them) Not sure why it typed out like that, fingers faster than brain.

4" of lift would be good for 37" tires, but you will have to stretch front and rear (particularly rear) you will not be able to trim enough metal off with out getting into the wheel well. Things to consider, you will also have to think about your fuel tank and steering. I personally would prefer 4" lift with a 37"+ tire.

Like I said if you just do the lift( least expensive ) you need to do the 5.5"
Or think about highline from AEV or a Set of tube fenders and some rear corners ( comp cut ) or just start trimming . You will lose up travel if you go with tires that are too big, but it does keep the CG down a little.
