I'm going to try and kill two stones with one bird here......

I'm a new member and I need soem help in identifying my Jeep.

I was just given (free) a rolling chassis & body. I did not see a "fender tag" so I can find out Year, type, etc.
No engine, trans, transfer case, or drive shafts.

It looks to be a 70's CJ5.

How do I identify this Jeep so I can get correct parts?

Look up the vin in your chiltons, it will tell you

I believe around 73 or so AMC lengthened the front clip by about 3" to accommodate the I6. It should be a AMC if it is very early 70's.

Ding Ding. If the Vin tag is missing, pics would help and hood length and we can work from there.

Sorry about no Pics. The Jeep is in Sacramento, CA and I'm in Reno, NV area. But your comments have helped I will get the hood length dimension, and I'll get my son to help with the pics.

Any idea where the Vin information might be if the tag has been removed??
