CJ Rollcage in a TJ

I would bet that it wouldn't fit directly in without mods. You're probably better off just cutting the TJ cage and adding more tubing to make it look like the CJ. Though, I wouldn't modify it at all, as it may add instability in the body. The cage probably just isn't for the protection of the rear passengers.

The only way to know is trying it. ;)

I think it would be cool, too, and I doubt it would weaken the body. Heck, I've seen half cab TJ's with no rollbar.

The windshield bars and seat belt mounts will need to be addressed since the CJ bar doesn't go to the floor. The side of the body also mounts to the roll cage near the striker plate. The TJ inner fender is too roundy for the CJ roll bar platform. You would be modifying a safety item so this might not be a good idea but... I would cut off the rear loops and weld in diagonal (CJ- like, early wrangler-like) bars using the same mounting flange. This way you would have the factory seat belt mounts and windshield bars. Someday I might do the same thing:) Best of luck - John

Might try the 79-later CJ bars that bolt to the floor behind the front seats.. similar to the YJ/TJ bars.. it might work.
