Can i use adeep cycle marine battery on my Jeep?

Fair Tax?

I don't see why not. As long as it's 12 volt and has enough CCAs, which it probably does.

Deep cycle batteries are made to be charged and then removed from the charger. Trickle charging is ok, but the charging system of a vehicle will greatly shorten the life of it. It will work, but you will probably have to replace it within a year.

How to remove Herculiner off my...

Agree and Disagree, I've been running my dual optima yellow tops for over 5 yrs without one problem even w/ the lights and winching.

Most boats have alternators too though. And, it's well known that Optima deep cycle batteries usually last a long time.

Go for it. If it's a 12 volt battery, it should be good.

Yea i tryed to start it with the new batt. it starts great but the batt is too long, and it wont fit. :(

deep cycle batteries are meant to hold a charge longer when you let them sit, which is why they use them in boats... All boats have an alternator on them to recharge the batteries.

I agree. A boat has an alternator, but you don't take the boat on a trip every day to work or play. I wish I could though.
Just for the info of those who disagree, I got this advice from an Interstate battery distributor. He could have made more selling me the deep cycle battery, but he was being honest. The Optima batteries are designed for automotive use. Regular boat deep cycle batteries are not.

deep cycle batteries would work good if your jeep is not driven regularly, ut if you drive it weekly, it is a waste of money....

A pretty good battery tutorial will be found here:

Yes, any modern inboard boat engine will have an alternator, but a boat of any size will also have a built-in AC (shore power) battery charger.

The shore-powered battery charger provides dockside short-term high-current recharge and/or long-term maintenance trickle charging as required.

RE: Pics?

deep cycle batteries also stand up better to full discharge/recharge than do standard batteries (hence the name - deeper cycles) - so you can drain more from a deep cycle battery and not fry it as soon.... why they're good for marine applications (as some outboards do not have alternators)... wont hurt your jeep if you can fit it in....

RE: Diff fluid with a Detoroit locker?

So another words, since it's just laying around and you need a battery....yes, go ahead and use it. There's really nothing to loose and nothing that can go wrong.

Thanks and a few answers
