what are the specs on the stock rims?

what are good upgrades for some wider and taller tires, nothing crazy...probably 31s.

just doing some research.

pics would help.

and is a body lift needed for 31" tires?

Re: RE: hey

On what? My YJ is on 31's with Cragar 15x7 rims, and I only have a very slight rub on the rear fenders at full stock flex. Stocker rims on Wranglers are 15x7, unless it's a Rubi, then they're 16x8 (or is it 15x8?). The bolt pattern is 4.5 on 5. With 31's on my stock aluminum rims I had some rub on the front springs at full lock, which was remedied by adjusting the steering stops until I got the newer rims with I think 4.25" backspacing. Now I've got my full tight turning radius back and no rub up front. Really don't have any rub in back anymore, either, because the tires have rubbed a 1/4 inch arc out of the flares where they used to rub!

That's a stock YJ with 31's on it, no lift.

Now, if you're talking about your Z-28, I don't think 31x10.5 Mudders will be what you're really wanting......

You can run 31" with no lift just fine. The stock rims are likely 15x8" with the 4.5"x5 lug pattern. Stock backspacing generally runs about 5.75".

You can run the 31" on stock rims, or pick up some 15"x8" rims with 3.5" or 4" of backspacing for a wider safer stance.

If you have the crappy 28" tires you'll be having the 15X7 rims, which will still run fine on a 31 10.50 and you could even stretch it to a12.50 though its not manufacturer recommended, the spare however will be a 15X6 so 10.50 is about the widest you can go on it.

I run the stock steel 15X7 rims with 31 10.50's and can't complain they are good rims.

Though if you have the 3.07 rear, like me, they make 5th gear obsolete unless you're driving 75mph
