Belly Pan Gone! Ol Cj on the rebound.

I am trying soimething new here. Tugly came with a very funky not so great belly skid pan when I bought her. She had been Jury Rigged to the point of laughter and or tears depending on what side you are on. Wish I had taken pics prior to the days chain of events.

Any how I will take a few pics of the final out come and I hope it works as well on the jeep as it did in the minds eye of a group of good ol boys (myself, my favorit wrench men Jerry & Eric, and a local metal fab tech guy Morgan.) standing around with mesureing tapes straight edges and pen and paper in hand.

Man it could be better that it was. the old pan was pressed steel as is stock on CJ's and had been droped for some reason via 5 each 1/8 inch shims the width of the frame and runing the lenght of the skid pan on each side between the pan and the frame. The jokers that did such a thing had broken off bolts and welded L brackets to hold the belly pan on and it was a very clumsy job to say the least.

Now ring gear on the flywheel, new starter, clutch looks brand new, pressure plat still has swirls from being refaced prior to my buying it, and leaven it as is for now. Thought the rear main seal was a leaking but it is just run off from a bad valve cover gasket over time to the rear of the engin that made me think it was bad.

Found some rust in the frame that looked worst than I ever thought so we are going to cut out an inside half section of the frame and weld in new steel on each side to end that problem. All I need to do is get the lod beast made trail worthy and then we can start the modifacations and really get the show on the road.

Wish me luck here as it is a major under takeing to get an ol gal like this back into shape. Still have fun doing it. Tug

Right on, Glad to hear your gaining ground. I have spent the last two nights stripping all the parts off mine for paint. Waaaahooooooo!!!!!
The best part about owning a NON-kick-ass-rig!! Beat it, scratch it, and paint it again!!! Hopefully I will get it done this week, I have my lift coming after that. And I know I will have to stop everything and install it.

If it turns out pop up some pics.

PS: The new signature pic is EXCELLENT!!!!
