bad spark plugs?

Replace them and see if it runs better. Also if you take them out of the block and reconnect the wire, get close to the block. Then have some one crank the engine. You should have a nice solid spark. This can be dangerous, and you can get shocked, but it is the only way I know how to check the plug itself.

you can check each plug with a volt meter checking continuity from the tip to the center of the electrode, a visual will tell you if the electrode tip is worn, black lines along the ceramic parts or deep below the electrode tip will tell you if its also not firing right, but at this point, replacing them all is in your better interest. you got them out you might as well replace them.

Or invite Steel over and have him check them for you while you sit in the jeep doing the cranking part.:D
I am sure he would be most happy to check them out for you...

I agree on the first part, replace the spark plugs. The second paragraph however is not sooo inviting. We can't all be heroes, someone has to sit on the sidelines and clap their hands. I think i'll be one of e'm.:D

:rofl:Mikey!
Also make sure your friend is standing in a puddle when he holds that spark plug.

Lat time I was the holder and found out the plug was fine but the wires where all cracked looked like a light show under the hood.

The easiest way to tell if your plugs are fouled is a visual check. If they need replacing they will be black and/or carbon brown. A Haynes/Chiltons manual has pictures you can refer to for all sorts of foul conditions as well. Of course, a set of NGK race plugs only costs like $8 so you might as well switch em' out :D
