axle upgrade and transmission problems

I four wheel like a mad man and love the hard stuff, the harder the better, and most of my wheelin is rockcrawling and aggressive trails. I drive a 94 grand cherokee 4.0 with a 6.5" lift and 33x13.50 swampers, I recently buried it to the windows in a mud hole and my transmission lost 3rd and overdrive but has strong 1st and 2nd could I have blown a sensor in the transmission or did I smoke the hole thing? I also snapped an axle (dana 35) is there anything I can rob an axle out of and upgrade at the same time without having to go aftermarket or change axle housings? I would like to do a dana 44 or 60 something in that area. Thanks for your help and advise..

You might be able to find a 44 out of an older XJ with the tow package, as for a 60 you might be able to find one at a junkyard or something like that, i'd talk to some fellow Jeepers, they might have some used parts they would be willing to part with.

You can find a bolt in Dana 44a out of another grand but it's not that much of an upgrade. I went the 60 route, it's a ton of work but well worth it. Several aftermarket companies like Dynatrac and Currie make bolt in 44s, 60s and 9" rears but they come at a price.
