Can somebody help determine if I will need to get an installation kit for an aftermarket cd player so it can fit. Thanks. I will try to post some pics ASAP in the gallery. My Jeep is great!

nope... thats another great thing about a jeep for those years... no installation kit needed... all the bracketry is all there, you will have to take the bracket off the factory player and put it on the new one[addsig]

Get a harness and use the bracket from the original stereo and you should be fine. The new stereo might sit a little different in the hole, but don't worry about that. My friend just bought a 93 yj and we went to put his cd player in the other night to find that some genus decided not to use a harness and also mounted the cage that supports the cd player to the plastic dash cover instead of using the original bracket and now we are trying to figure out how to make it right :-( Good luck.[addsig]

If you still need help with this go to cruchfield.com or call 'em when it comes to CD players in cars they rule. they'll help you step by step if you need[addsig]

mine didn't have a bracket OR the original wiring (genious of a previous owner rigged the head unit BIG TIME... anyways... i just used the little metal cage that came with the head unit, and popped out the plastic dash frame and bent the little prongs of the cage around the dash frame (after using a utility knife to cut the dash frame hole out a little) and it turned out pretty good. i even hard-wired my radar detector to the accessory power wire there when i was installing the head unit... it turned out great!

I never found a wireing harness for my 95 wrangler. I went to three different shops and all the harness's were wrong, so I decided to hard wire it. It isnt very hard, just test each wire untill you get the right one. As for this bracket they are talking about? Mine didnt have a bracket so I just attached the shealve to the dash. Looks are works great. I also just installed a four channel amp where the glove compartment was. Now, the cant find my amp to steal it.[addsig]

Cool, thanks for all your help. I actually have a pretty good aftermarket pull out tape player. It works great and everything, but I think it's time to put in a cd player. I had this cd player on my grand am, but I took it off before I got rid of it. The cd player is an alpine detachable face cd player. I've only had it for about a year, so it's gonna sound nice in my Jeep. I didn't want to put it in my Jeep before because I was scared of getting a brand new cd player stolen, but I figure that if I remove the face every time I leave my Jeep, it i'll be alright. Thanks again. Keep on Jeeping! -Al :) [addsig]
