I was just wonderin what does it mean when people put a bungi strap on the hood of their jeeps? i seen it in mags an ppl around here have them on. I was just curious!

Could be when they fold down the windsheild they use it to keep the windshield down on the hood and from moving around.

thanks for the help i am new. just bout my 94 wrangler YJ an i am trin to get some info on some things.

...just a sec, lookin' for my secret Jeep club decoder ring:rolleyes:

When I got mine it had a bungee on the hood, this was primarily used to keep the hood closed as the latches were all broken

now i am havin another prob there is a loud clickin noise commin from my engin, i am thinkin it maybe the timing chain. But not fully sure i hate to tear it apart an that not be the case can anyone give me advise?

Jeep engines are noisy by nature, so maybe nothing is wong. But it could be a valve or lifer, or the timing chain that is stretched. You can try replacing a quart of oil with a quart of ATF; I have heard it helps (never tried it myself, though), as well as some aditives that have cleaning agents... If you replace the timing chain, dont forget to replace the tensioner as well... And keep in mind that (at least on the 2.5L) you need to take out the belt, fan, pulley, timing chain cover and oil pan to be able to replace the thing (it's easy, but it takes some time to do and you will need the puller to get thepulley out).
