'99 Grandy Blown Tweeters

I've got some new tweeters to install, the haynes manual just says to remove the cowl with no other information. I'm not even sure if they mean the part the tweets are mounted to or the metal body part in front of the windshield. I know these blow like bubble gum, anyone removed them or have clearer instructions?

I almost hate to ask, because you are so kind to post instructions for me for my every question, but do you have instructions for getting the Instrument Panel Top Cover off?Feels like a snap in and no screws I can see, but whenever I pry something it breaks. Plastic hates me. TIA.

Pull the driver and passenger side A- pillar off. Start from either the driver or passenger side top I/P cover. Gently pry untill each one of the metal retaining tabs across pops off, Gently pull away from the instrument panel and wala!.

I can not thank you enough Mikey! You're a good man, always willing to help someone out.

Wow, that was easy, and I been puting it off for months. You would not believe how nice it sounds. PO had replaced the blown original Infinities with some cheap piezos that sounded way too tinny and way to loud, even with the treble down, then they blew out. I put in some cheap Infinity soft dome tweeters. I was out there for a good half hour playing different types of music to see how it sounded, and it was just fantastic.

The ones I used are discontinued, these are $40 more, but should be about the same: Infinity Reference 1031t 1" textile dome tweeters at Crutchfield.com Highly recommended if anyone has blown or tinny sounding tweeters. Original Infinity tweeters in these Jeeps had a defect and are doomed to fail. Their replacements are about $200, so these will cost less than half. My grills were toast from the cheap piezos (drilled, screwed into, cracked out). So I flush mounted these, but they come with parts to mount behind the grill, flush mount, and full surface mount (like the old piezos were and they looked horid).
