96 Jeep Grand cherokee rear rotors wont come off?

I'm trying to change the rear rotor on my Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.2 L. I took off the caliper, brake pads and I still cannot get the rotor to come off. Is there anything else that connects the rotor like emergency brake, bolt, etc.

It seems like the rotor and the cylinder that is in the middle moves in and out about a 1/8 inch together. Shouldn't the rotor and the center piece move separately?

Most of the time, the rotors centering hole to the axle hub and the E-brake shoes will make it difficult to remove the rotor.. Trick: with a small hammer, gently tap the hat of the rotor in between the wheel studs while applying some tension from the back of the rotor with a small pry bar.. Make sure that you work around the rotor as you do this so that the rotor pulls straight out and not crooked, otherwise it will bind on the hub and e-brake shoes.

Thanks SteelHeadz- I think that the parking drum brakes inside are caught on the inside lip of the rotor. Someone said something about adjusting the parking brake by using the adjustor slot? I can't find it. Shouldn't my rotor be able to rotate when the brake pads are off? People keep telling me to pound the rotor then turn it a little bit and pound again and turn it some more and so fourth. I can't turn the rotor at all? Does this mean that the parking brake is stuck on? Any help would be great- Thank you so much!!- Mike

Depending on how worn out the rotor hat , yes it will bind on the lip. There should be a elongated rubber plug on the backing plate. i dont remember which direction to rotate the adjuster but you can use a small flathead screwdriver to do this.

Thanks again Steel- I will try it tomorrow morning. Shouldn't my rotor be able to rotate? Do you think that my parking brakes are stuck on or seized? Both of the back rotors are warped and bad which makes me think that the parking brakes are bad and seized up and caused excess heat to the rotor. Thanks for the replies - Mike

If the e-brake shoes are caught on the lip of the rotor hat then you wouldn't be able to rotate them. just work around the rotor with a prybar while tapping the rotor with a hammer.

Thanks for the help Steel- I ended up just cutting the rotor off with an angle grinder. I put anti- seize stuff on the new rotor so it won't rust together again. Thanks for your help- Mike

As far as it rotating, did you have the Jeep in gear or in park?Think that would also stop it from turning, but I guess It dont matter now that you cut it off.
