a little over a month ago my husband and i bought a jeep Cherokee. It had sat in the guys yard for a few months. it was running pretty good at first, then it started stalling out. My Brother in law (who's a mechanic said it just needs s turn up). we'll its only been about a week or so since he told us this so we haven't gotten the tune up yet, But then today on our way to the Doctors the car just like died while we were driving. so we waited and it it took about 10 mins. before it started up again, but once it started the horn started going off also, and didn't stop till we turned the car off. it did this for about 30 mins or so, then after looking at everything and not finding anything it finally started normally, so we were on our way home and it died again, but this time it wouldn't start anymore and we had to have it towed. we don't really have the money to take it to a garage to get fixed, so i don't know if anyone had any idea's what could be wrong. thank you for any opinions.

i would guess and say change the fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and air filter.

Is the SES lamp on? or diagnostic trouble codes?. What do you mean by the horn going off? steady or pulsing?. If it was a pulsing horn actuation, i would start checking around the ignition circuit on the connector. Also check the charging system including the battery. Check the connectors to the PCM as well for corrosion or loose connectors tothe PCM housing.

I know this is a total troubleshooting issue. What Mike and Tim posted is accurate. Also, if the horn was pulsing, it could have been the alarm system. If your alarm system is kicking in it will kill the engine and will prevent restarting. Why this would happen I have no idea. Overall a tune up would be a great idea. I would for sure clean the air filter and replace the fuel pump.

Alarm might have been triggered by opening passenger door from inside handle - seems dumb but I have done it and trigger alarm

The horn going off was probly because of the battery getting low from tryn to start it if you have the key less entery just push the left button when that happens if not use the key to lock and unlock the passenger door
On it dien going down the road check the fuel pump hope that helps
