ey everyone! So I just picked up a GC for 275 bucks from my girl friends dad. He was saying it had a ring and pinion problem. So I just went to a jeep salvage yard and picked up a new one and swapped it out for a high pinion Cherokee axle. But the only problems I have been running into is 1) I no longer have antilock breaks. That's not a big deal tho. And 2) my idle is super weird and sometimes just drops as if it's going to die. You guys have any ideas what that could be?

Possibly talkin out my butt, breaks check master cylinder maybe flush it? Idle prob check throttle cable make sure there are no bends in the line or possibly the injector?? Again I'm half polish, take my words of wisdom with a very tiny grain of salt.

There should be a relay for the abs check that, dont know much about those, I usually drive vehicles with them lol but as far as the idle, just a question, has it been sitting long? and does it idle up when sitting still as well?

It sat for about 5 months before I bought it. And no it doesn't idle up. It just drops sometimes like it's going to die. It actually happens when I put the heater up on high. And the battery is realitivly new so maybe it's a alternator going bad.

check the grounds wires one maybe loose , try running a ground from your NEG batt terminal to the radiator support , It may help till you find the loose ground

check the proportioning valve could be air locked push the little button thingie on the prop valve to burp the system ,

Hey Wayne711, I had a similar problem with my '97 zj where the rpms would suddenly get really low and sometimes turn off whenever I came to a stop sign, backed out of a parking spot, or just slowed down in traffic or a parking lot. I tried finding out what was wrong with it with the help of my dad but after a while I finally took it to a Midas where they told me the problem was a dirty fuel injection system. They cleaned it out and it runs fine now. I hope I was of some help.
