90's Son

Hey guys.

Just wanted to let you know that I'll be needing your prayers, my son Cole, who is 7, goes under the knife at 6AM tommorrow. This is something we have been planning for several months. To give you some background, another (so called) surgeon took his tonsils out 3 1/2 years ago due to a sleep apnea problem. He was born with really large tonsils and they were giving him problems. After the surgery he never was able to regain a good speech pattern. He talked with a nasal tone even after a year of speech therapy. A specialist looked at him and determined that a little bit of reconstructive work needed to be done to correct the problem caused by the first surgery. We are very confident in his ability and the procedure. We weighed the risk verses the benefit our son will have with the outcome. When you can do something to help your child's quality of life for their future, you just have to do it. We hope this procedure will give him a more normal speech pattern.

I hope I can give an update tommorrow night. He could be released as early as Friday.

Our prayers are with you and yours, 90. A few years from now you'll probably be wishing that he would just shut up!! We'll be keepin' him in our thoughts.

...and us.

So, this is something that if it works, results will be noticeable immediately after the procedure?

Keep us posted Mark.

Thoughts and prayers for you and your family from Indy.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and support;)

The procedure went fine and if his liquid intake looks good to the doc, he should get to come home this afternoon.
One thing that has made this a trying ordeal is that the hospital the doc works in is 105 miles away. So we had to spend the night wed night near the hospital while his three year old sister was with grandma's house.

All indications are that the procedure was a sucess and when the swelling goes down over the next couple of weeks we will know more.

Thanks again, you guys are great!;)

Great news, 90!! To all you non-believers out there, prayer does work! And 90, you and yours are still in our prayers..........never hurts to give a little extra. Hope he makes a full recovery and drives you both crazy with all his clear-speeched yakkin'!!

Glad to hear everything went well. Sorry that your boy had to go through it in the first place, thats pretty tough

Hows your son doing? We still pray for his full recovery everyday.

Thanks so much for asking. He is continuing to do very well. his appetite is strong and the swelling is going down day by day. His speech is already a great improvment. he goes back for a check up on Monday. His is getting soooo sick and tired of the soft food diet. He actually cried for a piece of pizza the other day.:-|

aww. Tell him soon enough. I feel his pain. I was also hit by a car when i was 5 and lost all my teeth. Soft food diet sucks! Obviously i don't do well with cars.
