Ok I did it.. I replaced my junk D35C with a ford explorer 8.8. I broke the D35C pulling my boat out of the water. I know this isn't a cool way to do break it, but that is when it happened. This was not an easy job. I did all the work myself with the mounts that I cut off the old d35c. Every site I visited said this either couldn't be done or shouldn't be done. I did have my three year old daughter hold one of the coil springs while I was putting it back together. :0 (start em young) I did get some good information on stu's page about part numbers. One thing I will say, it is a lot of work, and if you are not a pretty good welder, don't try this at home. There is not any noticable change in the ride or appearence of my jeep, except that the rear is a lot cooler looking in the back.. Big rear ends are good!!!! If anyone is thinkng about tackling this project, post on this thread. I will let you know what I learned in the process.

Sounds great. You know, we're going to have to see some pictures, though... ;)

I'm sure you will have valuable info.
