302 engine swap for cj7

hey guys i have a 83 cj7 with the 258. im looking at putting a 302 in it and was wondering if anyone knows what i will need to do and parts i will need. i found motor mounts but i was wondering about the transmission and bell housing. i think the transmission is a 176. will it hold up or do i need to look for something else? the motor is going to be fuel injected so im going to just spend the money and get the painless wireing kit. any infor will be great!!

both the mustang and cj 7 came with T5 transmission's, I would look there for a bell housing, beyond that, don't know. check out Advanced adapeters and Novak. those two companies can give you a lot of info.

ok thanks. yea from what i heard the bolt pattern for the transmission is the same as the ford that was another reason i wanted to go with a 302 along with im a big ford guy. i was also wondering if anyone knew what kind of transmission mount i would need and maybe some sujestions on some headers. this is my first engine swap.
