2005 tj parking brakes

Hi guys.

Got a 05 tj with rear disk brakes that have a drum parking brake setup on the same rotors.

One was siezing up so i freed it up.

the question is the spring orientation, both springs, top and bottom are the same, the top spring is wound and bent in a way so that when installed
on the rights side it clears the linkage fine but on the left side,if its orientated the same way the spring bend rubs the linkage, and if reversed
compared to the other side, gets compressed when the parking brakes are
applied, or so it seems.

the manual for my brakes shows one part number for both sides, but the image is also of a spring with a wind at both ends...?

any ideas
