2002 Jeep Liberty will not start.

I recently bought a 2002 jeep liberty limited. The check engine light came on. I took it in to a mechanic to have the code read. The code came out as "po455." This is large evap leak. They did not have the parts on hand to replace the hoses that were leaking. They told me the car would be fine to drive even though the issue needed to be corrected. A day later the car started, but did so very slowly. After I got home from work I tried to start it again, but it would not start. Could a eval leak lead to the car not starting? That was the only code that showed up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only time an EVAP would make any difference on starting is when the fuel enters the vacuum lines from the fuel tank all the way to the intake and cause a rich code. I've never seen it happen and at the worst case, ive seen it saturate the canister but not enough to feed fuel thru the intake vacuum line. I would suspect an electrical failure in your situation for the starting issue. Check battery voltage , feeds to the PDC and starter first.

I am in agreeance with Steelheadz and Superj having had the issue on my obd 1 system myself once . Of course , repair the evap and vac lines first , then go ahead and check battery voltage and alternator output next . You must check your starter to see if it is on its way out . Voltage draw test is in order, I totally concur with that . You'll get it beat , we have faith . Post when you can . Best of Luck . Thanks again Steelheadz & Superj .

I have been there too my 06 had problems

Found the ground wires get all corroded and you no longer get a good ground so I replaced them all no more issues

it used to click like a dead battery now it cranks instantly like new
