It is always worth a try to check again to see if the starter will crank , just to see if a "hot spot" isn't responsible. You will definitely want to check for any loose connections , battery cable and solenoid connection. Check for a voltage signal at the solenoid wire nicknamed the "trigger wire" to see if voltage is present when the key is in START position. A voltmeter or test light will be suffice. If all these checks don't prevail and no voltage is found at "trigger wire " , the ignition switch needs to be checked. There is an on going problem with the Jeep Liberty and maybe a few other models that use this ignition switch . I believe it was not of electrical but of mechanical fault. The last I heard , there was no replacement part(s) but only home made remedy to fabricate a starter button. Very shameful on chrysler's part.
