01 XJ ABS question

The ABS lite came on, on the dash today as my wife was driving; Theres a code about a shorted out LR sensor in the computer; must be as it wont let me reset; scanner says "Codes reset"! but it comes back as soon as it is cleared, the lite don't even bling when "reset";

I happen to have a Dana 35 out of a TJ sitting here, that was given to me as it was swapped out due to a "noise" in it; never rode in the "donor" Jeep to hear this "noise" before removal; IDK even what ratio it might be (hopefully does not matter for this) My XJ has a Dana 35 in it as well; Will the ABS sensore interchange between an XJ and a TJ? The TJ rear is an ABS version.

I dont know if they will interchange sensors, but the axle ratios are programmable on the abs module(for future reference). Remove the sensor from the TJ axle and compare it to the one on the XJ. If the lenght of the sensor head to the base and the mounting points are similar granted that the connectors also matches, then you should be fine. The reason the dtc would not go away is that it's an active code. If it was intermittent and it wasn't evident during the abs reset the lamp would have extinguished.

Yup had that happen in other situations over the years; figured it had to be a "live" code for it to stay on like that; had the same issue with my Mom's Intrepid about a year ago; same corner of the car, too;

Problem fixed; The sensor "itself" is the same, but the connectors were different; SO I cut the connectors off and soldered/ then heat shrink tubed the old connector to the "new" sensor; light out.

I checked the resistance with an ohm meter; the bad one was only showing 600-and-some ohms; the one on the other side as well as both sensors from the donor rear were at 1.080-some ohms. I checked all 4 sensors (off the XJ and the TJ) thinking there might be a left/right difference; (maybe how the "computer" could tell the difference between left/right, possibly??) nope. L&R on the TJ rear were both the same within 5 ohms, as was the RR one thats still on the XJ.

COOL!! as I HATE going to the stealership for ANYTHING!!!
