    changing out my v6 for 302 v8...

Just my opinion but I don't think Ggg Has been informed very well. SOOO, Here is some food for thought: 302 is MUCH lighter than a 350 by about 100 lbs, it is even lighter than the 4.0 I6 302 is narrower than a 350, This makes swapping them into tighter places easier, and the front mounted...

Help, my Jeep keeps cutting out and stalling on heavy washboard roads…

It could be a slightly loose ground, however I am going to say take a look at your Fuel pump relay--it might either be loose in the socket or the electromagnet inside might be weak so that all the jarring will cause it to break free and kill your fuel pump.

    changing out my v6 for 302 v8...

Well since you haven't told us what kind of jeep you have it will make things harder to get you the right information. 302 swaps are fairly easy. Depending on which transmission you have you may not even need an adapter. Ford and Jeep used the same transmissions for the most part and chances...

    304 fuel mileage

Chances are you have hit the magical formula for your combination. Real fuel economy is not determined by keeping the RPMS low. Real fuel economy is made by keeping the engine running in the sweet spot of the RPM range so that it never has to work or struggle to maintain the RPMS you are...

    Pictures

I've noticed some people have a bunch of photos on their bio's, where do you go to do this, the only photo links I've been able to find are either for thier avatars or what appears to be a generalized picture section.

    What gears to run??

Sorry, I goofed up to a 33" tire you are supposed to multiply by .12 over 33 is supposed to be a .13

    What gears to run??

A quick and easy rule of thumb to find out what gears to run is to multiply the tire diameter by .13 for instance 37" tire gives you 4.81 gears. Of course they don't make a 4.81 but they make a 4.88's. I've always heard you run the next step deeper for power and the next step higher for...

which 3 speed?--sorry its kinda long and rambley

How can I tell which 3 speed is in my 79 CJ? I've tried to find an ID plate but can't locate one. Reverse is to the left and up first is to the left and down. For an Extremely brief 2 hours I owned an 82 CJ7 that I really really scored on (It ran and drove great Very minor rust 258 I6 with 3...

    Body swap?

I have seen this swap done before using a YJ body. The person bobbed the backend of the YJ tub right behind the doors to make a truck type cab. he also used a t-bucket truck style bed behind that as it fit directly between the frame rails and didn't interfere with the tires. it was pretty cool...

Rear Axle choices--Anyone swapped an 8.8 into their Jeep?

Collin, I had planned on swapping everything, transfercase included. I have a ford NP205 that will put the output the same as the axle. I wasn't too worried about getting new drivelines for length as I was for pinion angle. After some crude measuring i don't think the angles will horrible and...

    Steel or Fiberglass Tub??

Hello again everyone :) I am trying to decide what kind of jeep tub to go with for my 79-CJ7 The factory tub is in OK shape with some minor rusting (this IS an Az Jeep. After hunting down the rust it does not appear to be too bad, the floorboards where your feet would go have rusted through...

    Bell housing

In my search for a final drivetrain solution (I'm going all Ford (393W/T18/NP205/D44 and still a toss up between the 8.8 and a 9") I'd offer you my bellhousing but I do not know what i am going to do with the 304/3 speed/D18 as of yet. I remember a website where I'm pretty sure it said that the...

Rear Axle choices--Anyone swapped an 8.8 into their Jeep?

Sorry for the confusion, I guess I should have been a little more clear. The 8.8 is from a fullsize truck and uses the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern not an explorer or a ranger which uses the 5 on 4.5 pattern. I already plan on putting a full width high pinion D44 in the front. (drivetrain will end up...

Rear Axle choices--Anyone swapped an 8.8 into their Jeep?

I am trying to decide on a replacement axle for the rear of my CJ7 and am deciding between either a Ford 9" or an 8.8. either of the axles will be a huge improvement over the narrow track model 20 in it now. I know lots of people have probably swapped a 9" in but what about the 8.8. It...

    Bent Frame??

I started to disasemble my 79 CJ7 to replace the dead 304 with a 351W/T18 combination and noticed that the frame appears to be tweaked. I'm trying to figure out if it really is or if it is supposed to be that way. If I stand at a distance it appears that right in front of the firewall the frame...

    304 4v

If I recall correct the stock intake requires a Carter Thermoquad carburetor (AKA biggest piece of &*#$) carburetor ever made, even worse than a Quadrajunk. My recommendation to you would be to use an aftermarker squarebore carburetor and go with a 470 CFM Holley Truck avenger.
