    TerryMason's 2005 Jeep TJ Build

It just never ends. There's always always something else that we want for our jeeps. I think you'll be happy with the 8.8. I put one in mine and altho the old D35 haden't gave out yet, The 8.8 gave me peace of mind.

Polyurethane air hoses - anyone used them?

I don't see a problem with it unless you run air tools with it. You need all the volume you can get with an impact wrench.

    Powertrain Problem

Swapping in AX-15 for a Peugeot BA 10/5 Here's a write up of the swap. Depending on what you plan to do with your jeep, You might find it more practical to just rebuild your transmision or replaceing with the same thing. Make sure that it is a transmision problem before you make a decision.

    Powertrain Problem

Without looking it up i would think that maybe you fave the BA-5 transmision. It's known to be a weak transmision. The AX15 is a good candidate for a swap. It was factory installed in many six cylinder wranglers and cherokees. A web search would give you the years and how hard a conversion would be.

    jeep islander clutch control

With the clutch released? Where can i find more info about this? I would think it would make for a great offroad application for us that want to keep our standard transmisions.

    Powertrain Problem

Most likely you've got some internal broblems in your transmision. Maybe a bearing or a syncro, like JPNinPA said, and it's binding the works up and making it turn. If you had a problem with your clutch or related parts i don't believe it would transfer power through your transmision when in...

    jeep islander clutch control

Never heard of such a thing in a jeep. There was such a thing back in the late 40s and early 50s. A car with an automatic with a clutch. My uncle had one but i don't remember what the vehicle was. You push the clutch only to put it in gear and it would act like an automatic after. If i remember...

    4wd problem

The only things you need to do to the transfer case is plug the vacuum lines and put it in four wheel drive when you want it. Are you sure that the actuator is engaging all the way? I had a problem with mine when i first installed it and had to adjust the cable so it would pull further.

newbie... saying hi and looking for advice

Welcome to the forum blue. As far as the rearend swap, I would look into a chrystler 8.25 swap. They put them into a lot of XJs and lots of aftermarket support.
