TJ rear springs not lining up

I noticed a little bit of lean toward the passenger side of my Jeep. After crawling under and looking around it looks like the passenger side spring isn't positioned correctly. In the spring bucket. I've got 3.5 in lift springs so I gather that things are not going to line up perfectly. Is there any easy way to get these springs to line up?


Driver side - looks good to my eye.

And this is the passenger side, where the spring doesn't seem to be centered.

I'm sure I could jack it up and center the spring, but I'm guessing the next bump or off-road trip will put it back to where it is now.

Try twisting the spring when you lift the front end all the way. Maybe it just needs to be rotated 90 degrees?

I have a feeling the real issue is that my springs have an arch in them because the buckets are not properly aligned.

Here's a photo of what looks to be an arch in the spring on my passenger side.

I wonder if new coil spring isolators would help center the spring (but not fix the arch). Something like this:

Try twisting the speing when you left the front end all the way. Maybe it just needs to be rotated 90 degrees?

It's the rear spring, but I think I understand what you mean. There's a groove or spot for the end of the spring if I remember. I'll pull the wheel off and droop it out tomorrow and take a look.

There was a bend in stock but not as noticeable. They sell spring perches or you could cut and weld. You get 1 to 1.5 additional rear lift when you do this.

I didn't know the stock had a slight bend in it, that's interesting. Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I'm going to take the tire off and see if the spring isn't seated wrong, like superj mentioned. I want to make sure the top of the spring is centered correctly.

I just renewed support for the forum, and have updated us to the latest software. Let me know if you see anything goofy.

Check your lift instructions. I don’t believe but i have read some lifts have a right and left spring.

Also be sure you are on level ground and your tires are aired at the same pressure. Also your front is no turned.
At one point i thought i had this issue and it was a slow leak in a front tire.

You've hit the nail on the head with this one. My passenger rear tire was at 12 psi while my driver side was at 30. That was the original cause of my lean , but in looking to it more, I noticed the passenger spring wasn't centered in the top bucket.

As superj suggested, I jacked the Jeep up and twisted the spring a bit and re-centered it. While there weren't any notches in the top for the end of the coil bucket to hook into, I was able to flatten out the rubber isolation spacer at the top.

Things now look much better, and the lean is gone.
