edelbrock 1406 carb adjustment ???

ok i have a 383 stroker in my jeep just picked up a new carb but the guy i baought it from messed with the 2 adjustment screws on the from of the carb one on left and one on the right he turned them all the way out i know i have to turn them all the way in but how far back out should i turn them after that i was told to turn them 1 1/2 turns each. is this correct or is that wrong would like to get that carb put on seeing it has an electronic choke verses the manual i have on there rt now thank you for any imput on this matter

Not a carb specialist but those are the air/fuel mixture screws. One is for idle and one is for off idle (not sure of correct term). On my Holley they both went in all the way then back out 1 turn, I tweaked them from that point.

edelbrock 1406 is a great SMC electric choke carb, IMHO, one of the best. I assume your refering to the air/fuel screws on the front of the carb at the base. It has been about 10 years since I setup a 1406 but IIRC, with the motor warmed up turn the screws all the way in, then back both out 1 full turn then under load turn out the screws in 1/4 turn intervals until it runs smooth and doesn't choke out through the first 1800 rpm's.

this is how I remember how to se tit up, might be a little off, edelbrock has the original manual on the net, check that first, also, if the carb is a bit of a mess, rebuild it now, that carb is super easy to rebuild.

ty for your guys for the answers i have never been good with a carborator lol so i figured comeing here to u guys was the best option the carb is like new yet just the kid that had it messed with all the air fuel mixture screws at the base so before i put it on i wanted a base setting to start with. I appreciate the advise if it warms up here soon ill put it on and let u guys know how it turns out
