If you get one with a soft top go for the upgraded soft top with tinted rear windows.
Since your getting a TJ a "Cadillac of Jeeps" as some say it here you might concider the built in hostess option.. that serves 'in drive" drinks. Oh ya upgrade to the french maid outfit! :-O ....you wont be disapoited hehehehehhe[addsig]

I will suggest against the Option that I took. Don't take the Cloth Seats. Everything else is great. Depending on your price range and the Options you want in the Cab with you, get what ever you can and deck it out except the cloth seats ;-).[addsig]

ok, so i should probibly state that i, being a poor soon-to-be college student, does not have a great deal of money, options will be vastly limited to what i can afford. Ill be looking for someting 98-99 and god willing and the creek dont rise, ball park of $9-10,000. So im more concerned with quarks and other things i should know about toe works and runnings of the TJ, being how i have been a die-hard YJ man in the past and know them top to treds. input is always a good

Well, regardless of how much money you got, look for a TJ with the options these guys have recommended. 10, 000 is a lot of money. Don't just settle for whatever you find. Make sure and have it checked somewhere to make sure the transmission and other main components are in good condition.Buy from a reputable dealer, not some small place, because you will often get what you pay for.-Al[addsig]

Sorry bro, all I can tell you about is the 03 TJ They seem to have changed so much, that I can't find ANYTHING to Mod it up.[addsig]

With any Jeep, stay away from the four banger, unless thants waht you want. The 4.0 and the Dana 44 with the limited slip are a great combo. [addsig]

L33,

You aint kidding there. I've been looking at just small things like accesories and tops, etc. There ISNT much labeled to fit an 03. I have found a few things though, so we shall see.

I should have my pics of her up soon, bout 2 weeks I think.

Get the one with the Square Headlights! The TJ has a great ride and if you have the money they mod out very well. If you do not want to mod out a Jeep the TJ is the way to go too. How ever if you wish to make a trail Jeep and are on limited funds go with a YJ again or fix the one you have. Just my 2 cents. tug[addsig]

I have to agree with Tug on this one...I have a TJ, and have also had a YJ.
The TJ is great, I LOVE it, but any mods run at least twice as much as a YJ. If you have the $$$$ and are looking for a good on/off road vehicle with out to many mods, the TJ is (in my opinion) the best way to go. If your limited fund wise, and are looking to build a trail rig, stay with the YJ.

Just my 2 cents.

BTW...what are you planning on doing to it Green...I'm kinda curious.

Rob :-P 8-) :-)

just got the yj back...had the U joints replaced, but the report is the body mounts are rotting out....I test drove a 97 today, liked it, but at just under $10,000, its kinda high for a poor college kid. Im really torn between getting a new (to me) jeep and just keeping mine till it dies. I know every day it loses value, and i really hate the 4cl, (biggest mistake i could have made) but i just dont know what to do. im tinking about maybe getting a different YJ, but if im spending to get that, it seems to make more sence to spend more and get one that will live that much longer. Why pay so much when you can pay twice as more right? lol
