YJ Seat Belts??

OK, worth a shot.....don't know why I never thought of it sooner. Mudwoman's YJ has been missing the pass. side female seat belt receptacle for quite a while. We have some grandkids that we occasionally cart around, so I removed the driver's side and adapted it to the passenger's side....don't really need a light telling me that the seat belt's not fastened anyway. Well, I've been watching eBay trying to get her YJ up to snuff - seat belts wise (and I am a cheap-arse). Can't believe what they're getting for those things.....must be a hot item. Well, fellow "z"ers, can anybody help me out??? Any spare seat belt parts floatin' around there??? Basically, all I need is the female portion from '95 on back, but am willing to purchase more, if that's what it takes. Just thought I'd ask. Thanx.

Used YJ belts are tough to come by. Aftermarket ones are expensive and used ones are tough to find in good condition.

I'd say your best bet is to try a junkyard, if no luck pony up and take it on the chin by shopping eBay. Some junkyards have a "network" which they can search most of the local boneyards so you don't need to scour them all. That's how they are in MD anyhow.

Thanks for the reply, TC. Yeah, I kinda figured that was the situation (based on what I've seen on eBay). Looks like it may be "pony-up" time.

I have the seatbelts you are looking for but the only down fall is I'm in Canada

Hey, great, joedirt!!! I think UPS still works up there!  PM me and maybe we can work something out.

I can check around when I get my stuff out of storage. Won't be for a few months but if you still need one in a few months let me know, you can have it. I will also be going to a local shop that sells nothing but jeep parts. I'm sure they have some. How much are you willing to pay if they have them? I'll try and find their website address so you can contact them yourself if you want. I'll get back to you.

Thanx a bunch, Craig!! I'll check it out. I'm basically just looking to get the female end - either side, it doesn't matter. About a year ago, the spring went out on mudwoman's YJ's driver's side. at the time, I just took the passenger's side off and moved it over so she'd be belted. The only difference, I believe, is the little wire that feeds the "idiot light".

The exact same thing happened to mine and I did the exact same thing you did by swapping belts. Got mine fromt the shop I gave you a link to. The guy there says it's a very common problem in older YJ's.

I was in at his shop last weekend. He told me he didn't have any used female ends. Tried to sell me on the whole seatbelt set.

My friend and I are scrapping a 94' Sahara. I can check the female ends if you still need them.

I have a pair of aftermarket female ends, I bought new belts and just used the male end. If I can find them you can have them. I may have tossed them last year when I moved...

Hey do you happen to still have the windshield from it? Is it in good shape?

It is good, but my friend is using it on his other YJ that has a rotten windshield frame. I bought one new on eBay from 1A Auto for $150 shipped.

Ok, thanks anyway. Back to the seatbelts!

Yeah, I'm still in need of 'em......appreciate the help. Joopin, as long as those will work with the factory males, I'll take 'em if you can find 'em!!

Thanx a bunch,
