What is that?

Well it is time to show off how little I know... I was admiring my engine today, and someone asked what the two little valves on the top of the engine are, and I felt like a total fool! Could anyone tell me? Also should they be replaced?

They are part of the CCV (closed crankcase ventilation) system, there are no valves in them, they are only elbows. Do not worry about having to replace them unless one breaks.

The plastic elbow used to be a PCV valve back in the day, but now they're just plastic elbows.

I thought they might be PCV but didn't want to pull on them till i knew for sure. Thanks for answering my question, yet again!

as far as I know, if you do have to replace them, you have to replace the valve cover. I broke one once, over 10 years ago and none of the part stores had one aftermarket, the dealership only had them sold with the entire valve cover.

has this changed?
