What is my Cherokee?

I've been reading about the XJ's and ZJ's etc. Mine is a '79 full size Cherokee. So what "J" is mine?

well its not a TJ, CJ, YJ, ZJ, KJ, or WJ (did i leave any out?).. so i'd guess its an XJ

I know what all of those "J's" are except the KJ and the WJ. What styles are those? They are what I thought (there I go again, thinking LOL) it might be.

kj is a liberty and a wj is a 99- present grand cherokee

Mine is a '79 full size Cherokee.

XJ's are the Cherokee in their current form. I believe that started in 84. If yours is a '79, its got a different body style and its not an XJ. I can't remember what the "J" term is right now. You might be able to find it at ifsja.org, a website devoted to the full size Jeeps like yours. There will probably be alot more useful things than the model name for you there as well. Let us know what you figure out.

It's an SJ.

Yep, full sized Cherokees and Grand Wagoneers are SJ.
XJ refers to Mid-sized cherokees and Wagoneers built from '84-'01

I believe they are lovingly called FSJ´s (Full Sized Jeep).

Technically SJ's, but many affectionately call them FSJ's.
