I have a 92 YJ thats pretty much stock with the exception of 33" Toyo tires and fender flares. I am trying to find out if I can swap the rear end out with one from a Cherokee and what years etc. I was looking into using a Ford 8.8 out of an Explorer but if the gears ratio and mounting is close there are several "clunkers" that are prime for picking. Any help or advice would be great and if anything else is a swap from the Cherokee please let me know.

The 8.8 would be your best bet, from a '95+ Exploder.

Also consider swapping the front and rear at the same time, like a Wagoneer front d44 and Isuzu Rodeo (Honda Passport) rear d44. This will give you stronger axles front and rear, 4whl disc brakes, and a matching 6-lug wheel pattern all the way around.
