I have a 91 YJ and I get water coming from under the dash on the driver's side when I take off or go uphill. This happens after every rain. People seem to think its the windshield, but I kind of think it is coming in through the hood vent.

Has anyone else had this problem?

2 Places to look at would be the heater intake and where my leaks at is around the steering shaft going threw the fire wall..There should be a rubber grommet around the steering column,Mine is missing.

On the firewall there is a plastic tube about 1.5-2 inches in diameter, it's about 8-10 inches long and hangs down along the firewall, the end of it is kind of crimped together. Remove that tube and clean it out, that will probably solve your problem.

...............or remove the plugs in the floorboard - at least then your feet won't get wet!;)

It doesn't bother me much about the floorboard being wet. It's when the water pours out on top of my feet from above.

From what it sounds like , Vlad has the right idea..
From the engine compartment, look behind the engine, on the firewall, there's a black tube about the size that Vlad described. Squeeze the tapered end with your fingers and see if it's packed with debris on that tapered area, if it is, Cut off the tapered end to prevent this from happening in the future..One word of advise thou, find the Transmission vent tube and the T.case Vent tube.. If for some reason it's routed to the center top of the bell housing, you must re-route these tubes on a higher location away from the path of where the cowl drain is at, otherwise it will be like sticking a water hose into the vent tubes and filling the Trans. and T.case with water.

Ok, i'm having the same problem with my 93 YJ... but it's leaking on the passenger side.. replaced the windshield cowl.. but still leaking. any other ideas:cry:

Check for water intrusions in the heater unit. The most likely area where the water would leak thru is the gasket between the hood cowl and the heater unit.
