Weird Noise?

Sounds like the fan rubbing on something.I know you said it goes away but if it is coming from the engine compartment I would look at the pulleys.I know my work van makes some bad squealing when I start it in the cold.I was told it is the fan belt, but they never seem to replace it..lol

Sound like belt to me. Check the idler pulley they dont last long due to all the tension these belts require.

its coming from under my feet, it only does when i start driving

what side is your exhaust on sounds like the rattle my wife has in her liberty it was the shield above the catalytic vibrating

Hmmm check all your mounts make sure they are torqued and in good shape could be u joint on frt shaft siezing up or the cardon joint itself.

Its on the passenger side, and the cat, plus the shield are both gone,I thought it was either the front drive shaft ujoint, or something in the transmission, I just thought it was weird cause it only does it when its cold.

My t case is noisey when cold the fluid is like molasses lol doesnt help my wot reverse to drives to get me out of a snow bank last week. But up here cold is -35 like it was last week lol.

I thought it could be that, but it sounds like its coming from somewhere in front of the transfer case.

Do you have a manual or auto. I know the manuals make noise when cold depending on the fluid. My last cherokee you couldnt even shift when cold lol. Some have a different fluid for cold climates.

Msybe time for a synthetic fluid change.

Your probably right. Its got over 158000 miles on it. Probably time to.

Is that driving or idling? The only time I ever heard anything like that from under a Jeep (not engine noise) was when a friends Jeep had the e-brake adjuster dangling onto the rear driveshaft. It would come and go and was driving him nuts. I put a little tension on the e-brake handle and the noise went away. We looked under the Jeep and sure enough, there was a shiny place around the driveshaft:lol: .
Best of luck - John

Its driving. My granddad thinks it could be the throw out bearing. Its coming from the transmisson, I'm sure of that

Why not just pull the front driveshaft and take it for a drive to see if noise goes away ?If noise goes away prob a u joint or double cardan joint bad

If it is the throwout bearing the noise should at least change when you push the clutch and the noise should be there while not moving. If the noise is there only when the Jeep is moving it's got to be something in the drivetrain, I would think
Best of luck - John
