SO today i went wheelin and sucked up some water in my air filter. car shuts off but later starts agin. i believe it is misfiring. car is very shaky. If water did get into a cylinder is there any way i can fix this without spending large amounts of money. Is there any easy way to fix this?

I'd start with new plugs, air filter and an oil change, and hope nothing got bent when the pistons tried to compress the water.

do a compression check. that will quickly rule out damage concerns. you want all numbers above 125 psi. within 10% of each other. 150 psi would be good. 90 psi is trouble.

after that, I'd lean towards spark. Sears sells a $10 pocket tester that you lay on the plug wires while running and verifies spark...see if there's a hiccup. if you were deep enough to suck water in the intake, then the distributor was dunked.

carb or FI?

if carb, drain the float bowl. you could have water in carb or even gas tank...get it out then run a touch of dry gas thru it.

any residual moisture would be evaporated by engine running temps and oil changes. white on the oil fill cap would verify water in the oil. keep in mind some internal condensation is not a huge surprise with winter temp changes.

If you verified that you got water mixed in with the oil, i would suggest during the oil change, pour at least 4 quarts of oil in the oil filler hole as quick as possible to flood out the cylinder head and push the water thats trapped in the nooks and crannys and work it's way down to the oil pan and out the drain hole. I would also suggest that you check the transmission, t-case and both axles for water contamination. If you have access to an air compressor, install a blow gun at the tip of the hose and run it on all the electrical connectors, spark plug galleys, alternator or where ever you think got submerged and induced water.

1. Clean the air filter and air box of all water
2. Take out the pluges roll it over if there is any water in there it will come out hit each hole with a air gun if you can do a compression check do it then put new plugs in put some dielectric grease in each plug wire that will help with water
3. drain the oil look to see if there is water in the oil if there is? put a new filter on and fill with oil run 20 min and do it again new oil and filter
4. just get everything dry get it running.... then like steelheadz sead check the transmission, t-case and both axles for water
