Hey, i finally got the tub up and off my frame. The only thing i ended up breaking was the steering wheel. It didnt seem to want to come off, so we just broke it. Getting the body off i was surprised to see that the underside/frame wasnt that dirty. The transmission and parts of the frame are covered in some grease/dirt mixture grime crap, and the frame has a little surface rust. What do you suggest to clean it up, and what should i do the frame in after i get the rust/dirt all off?? Any common problems with cj-5's that i might wanna look out for?? Anything anyone recomends that i should do now that i have the body/tub off?? Any advice is greatly appriated??

Knock all that stuff off with a bruch some degreaser and a wire brush .....And then slap on some POR-15

Do you put por-15 on everything, or just the frame. I know my dads a big fan of the stuff, but how does it turn out in the long run??

It works wonders ... put it on anything you don't want to rust....It works great don't get it on your hands they will be black for like a month....:)

Does it peel or anything in the heat and sun. It down here in arizona and it was 117 today, apparently heat is a consideration with a lot of things. Any experiance? The hottest it got last month was 126, whew, gotta love that heat. . . nice and dry, yum.

Aite, thanks for the advice. Any more??? common problems . . . the more help the marrier and hopefully easier the next month will be.

Good luck with it I hope all turns out good and well for you ..:)

I just got through doing the POR 15 thing to my frame, engine compartment, and under body. It looks great! Your have to use a top coat on anything that will see the sun, the stuff is UV sensitive, I used their cassis coat. I did have some trouble yesterday with their hardnose paint, it bubbled up after I put it on the inside of the tub, it is a two part paint and it set up so fast I could not use it all. I am going to talk to them today about the trouble I had. The stuff does not come off your skin so be careful.
