Hello / Hey from Portland Oregon...
So, the water pump on my 1989 Jeep Cherokee 4 x 4 (W/4.0 inline six that has power steering and air) started leaking and needs to be replaced. That's not my problem or my question here today...
My question is about getting rid of the stock 1989 Jeep Cherokee cooling system with the closed radiator (IE: no cap) and the over flow tank on the cowl. Not the best system or design...
As long as I'm changing out the water pump and all of the water / anti-freeze is drained out. Now would be a good time to do the swap / up-grade on the radiator and overflow syatem.
So my question is-
Is there another year / later model Jeep Cherokee or Jeep radiator that will bolt in? I did some "looking" here on Jeepz and found a member saying he swapped a system out of a 1994 Cherokee, into his and a buddies late 80's Cherokee. But he did not mention if it was "bolt in" or if he had to make it fit. And if he had to make it fit, what did he have to do to make it work? Drill some holes? Cut sheet metal? Can someone help?
Thanks in advance... PDXJEEP
