Tub Switch

I just bought a 93 4.0, and a 89 2.5. the 93 was wrecked in the drivers front, and the 89 in the passenger rear. Since the 93's frame is twisted, and the 89's rear axel was busted in two, I swapped the rear axel's out and now have one where I can atleast drive it around the yard. My next move is to swap out the body tubs, since the 89 is wrecked pretty good, and the 93 body is still in pretty good shape. My problem is I'm not exactly sure where to start. Does any one have a resource on this, or any advice.

Thanks

A tub swap isn't that hard, it's just slow and heavy. Start with the best frame (the 89 right?) then take the tub off of the 93 and put it on the 89. The tub will come off if you unbolt the body mounts (probably about 8 of them, craw under the jeep, and you'll see them bolting the body to the tub). You'll also have to disconnect the front fenders, they are just bolted to the tub inside the engine compartment.

You may want to put the 4.0 in your new ride, but I would probably get everything running first with the 4 cyl.

Well it looks like this tub switch won't be as daunting as I had expected. But I'm really only 2 hours into the project. I got 6 of the eight bolts and the steering collumn out tonight. I'll get those fenders off. Is there anything else I need to make sure to unhook...I'm not sure what to do with the master cylinder, unhook the brake lines, or unbolt it from the tub, seems like the brake lines would be easier. Is there something with the heater that needs to be disconnected, how about wire connections?

thanks

p.s. I'm planning on putting the 4.0 in there latter this spring, it has like 65k miles and the 2.5 is knocking on the bone yard gate at like 125k. I don't have a transmission or transfer case with the 4.0, does anyone know if they are the same as the one in the 2.5? I thought I saw in my repair manual that they have different clutch housings.
