Track bar from Rusty's.

Hey Y'all,

I have the 4.5" lift from Rusty's off road, and have the adjustable track bar that came with it. My question is, the adjustments that I've been making have lined up my axel as much as I expected. Am I doing something wrong, or is it possible that my axel's offset is a result of more than just my track bar?

FYI, I have ordered the Heavy duty trackbar from Rusty's that replaces that puny heim joint that waller's out as a result of all the pounding. Comes with a new mount bracket as well. When I called Rusty's this was there suggestion., but it's an upgrade I wanted to do anyway.

Any thoughts?

Hey Mingez, Isn't the idea of the adjustable trackbar to be able to align it parrallel to the (steering) drag link?

By the way, how do you like the Rusty's kit? Did you get the AAL or rear spring pack kit?

Regretfully the AAL, kit. But that will soon be remedied. However, that being said, I love it. It has not sagged at all... yet. And when it does, I'll have some new springs ready for install.

As for your question, I believe yes and no. when you lift your XJ, the stock trackbar is obviously not ment to reach the mount at the new angle. There is now more length between the mount on the axel and the frame mount. The added length/height now "Pulls" the track bar to the driver's side of the vehicle, causing an 'offset". (i don't know if offset is the correct jargon)

Take a look at this link from Rusty's:

And here is a write up on the install:

HELP....CJ has the shakes

Looks like the reason my YJ kit had the relocation bracket. It was made for that lift kit at the proper length so it had everything lined up perfectly. Seems that a relocation bracket that is application specific would be a whole lot easier than trying to adjust it yourself. Then you could still upgrade the flawed factory mount. I do see that all the kit manufacturers offer the adj. bar instead of a relocation bracket - what am I missing here???

Maybe it's because all of the after market lifts have differing results height-wise. And maybe its for wear/sag adjustment. So, just because you have a tired suspension you won't have an offset axel, nor any of the ill effects of said offset.

Are you saying the adjustible track bar is not long enough, or what's the problem?

You can redrill the lower track bar mount a little towards the driver's side if you need to center the axle more than the track bar will allow. If you do drill, run the track bar in some so it's not fully extended when mounted, this will leave some room for fine adjustment.
