While driving on the highway a few days ago, a pretty severe death wobble popped up out of nowhere. I saw that my steering stabilizer isn't connected to the axle side of the car - it's just hanging from the steering side. I was going to just buy an aftermarket one, but I see that most of them require you to reuse the bolt from the axle side to install them. Does anybody know where I could find the bolt for the axle side of the steering stabilizer, or alternative what size bolt is used?

Can't help you with the bolt. However the steering stabilizer does not fix death wobble. You could operate without the stabilizer.

Your DW issues are likely the track bar or another worn component that is allowing the wheels to oscillate.

Yeah, I saw that as well. It had a death wobble before, but I had the control arms, ball bearings, and a few other things replaced and that seems to have had fixed it. It was doing fine for a while, but then it came back all of a sudden last week. I was thinking about changing the track bar, but my mechanic's shop is over in Staten Island and I live in Brooklyn and I'd like to get the stabilizer fixed to at least dampen the vibrations a little while I drive it over there. I felt like my axle was about to snap last time I drove it.

Two things.

First, check out your front end carefully. You may have other things going on. Have someone move the steering wheel back and forth while parked, and while they do so, observe the front linkages and ball joints. If you see excess movement, that is probably the source of your death wobble if you did not have it before.

Second, Fastenal makes all kinds of nuts and bolts, and if they don't have it, it might be hard to find. Maybe try a junk yard?
