TJ Gas Tank Damage

I recently discovered about a 2"X2" clamshell in my gas tank skidplate, basically centered. The dent is about a half inch to 3/4" deep. As long as I have no leaks and the tank integrity seems good, is there any reason to replace the tank and skidplate?

The tank is plastic, unlikely you have any damage there but capacity will be reduced slightly. Don't worry about the dent, just worry about getting more or hitting something that will penetrate the flimsy stock skid. If you wheel your TJ much, I highly recommend an aftermarket tank skidplate.

2" Spacer lift mods

Thanks, I'll look into getting a tougher skidplate. It amazed me how easily the stock one dented... I wheel about once a week, depending. Hopefully I can afford a lift soon and further reduce the likelihood of hitting things.
