I went to the parts store and tried to buy a fuel filter for my 99 tj 4L. Their computer came up that it is unserviceable. DThey have no listing for one. Does anyone know what the hell that is supposed to mean? :-? [addsig]

If you went to autozone, Thats what the computer tells the zit faced highschool kid behind the counter, and cause he has no other auto experience besides that enormous wing on this moms 91 toyota tercel, he is now rendered useless.

My auto zone said the same thing about my 94 YJ a couple years back, But I knew that they made them, so I went to napa and got the part.

If that comes up useless, You are going to have to swallow your pride and head over to the dealership and fork over an extra $20 for the same part. (I know motorcraft and bosche both make one)

ok, when our computers say we dont have a part we ALWAYS check the "book" for it and almost ever time we will have it unless it is some really really weird part.... like bumper bearings :-O :-O ;-) haha
P.S. the zone sucks

rob, those bumper bearings are $50/set, you need 7.5 sets for each bumper... right next to the headlight fluid in your local autozone... both have change intervals of 30k miles...

as for those fuel filters, the dealer only wanted $14 for mine...

Thanks Dingus...btw, is that the red, blue or green headlight fluid ?

And I want the off road bearings.

for jeeps, i would reccomend the blue headlight fluid, it tends to illuminate the mud the best, and offroad bearings are the same price, they're just built with larger ball bearings, there's just less of them in each bearing...[addsig]

Just got back from Autozone, and they didn't have enough sets of off road bearings. :-( However, I was able to buy some sets of on road ones, and will alternate sets, making sure to invert the on road sets.

I also picked up some RED headlight fluid, so now when I cruise around backwards, I no longer have to remount my brake lights in my grill.

pep boys is the ultimate crap hole parts shop. I gave up on em and now i shop at a privately owned Carolina Autoparts. They do really good work and have most parts. These guys are awesome at making custom drive shafts. [addsig]

While on the subject of hard to locate parts I need a kediddling shaft for my left hand thread doowacker modual. Dealer wants $37.50 and I just can not see paying that kind of price. Any ideas. tug [addsig]

One reason to never buy a YJ........that dang left hand thread doowacker module...nothing but trouble.

You can check out imaginitive parts, I'll give you the link as soon as I can think of it.

BUT SERIOUSLY, back to the ????? The fuel filter on a TJ in on the tank itself and part of the pump/sending unit. If you change one part, you change them all, and it ain't cheap. You also have to drop the tank to do it. The filter itself is a 75,000 miles filter, and shouldn't need to be changed until then, unless you fill the tank with mud.[addsig]
