Tires for snow/ice?

I've currently got 33x12.5 BFG All-Terrain tires on my TJ (4" lift). I'd like to replace the tires with ones that have a more aggressive tread, but also function well in snow and ice (I live at Lake Tahoe). Size-wise, I'd like to stay around 33 or 34.

I don't know much about tires, so if anyone has any thoughts on the subject, I'm all ears!

the all-terrians are a good tire and work well in the snow. A for a more aggressive tread check out goodyear MT/Rs or Interco's super swamper tires.

I had the MT/Rs are i loved 'em. then again, everyone has personal preference on tires.

I have Yokohama Geolander mudterrains which are great in deep snow but are horrible on ice and compact snow. I also have a set to Geolander IT's which has a severe snow/ice rating and are excellent. I can go further in 2 wheel drive with these than I can in 4 wheel drive with my mudterrains. They have a very soft rubber compound so I wouldn't run them year round or they'll wear out real fast.

You really need to stick with BFG but not the a/ts you need to go with the m/ts and then the mtrs that guy was talking about are way too expensive 30 more then the bfgs

Thanks for the feedback. I checked out Interco's site. Is anyone familiar with the TrXus MT tire? They claim it is "almost magical in icy snowy conditions."

About Trxus MT's, although I never owned a set, I have heard nothing but praise for them. Wheeled with a couple people who ran 'em and they love them. A great snow tire from what I saw on a snowy run at Paragon.

I recently switched to the Cooper ST. Exacly what I was hoping for in all road conditions, and we get 'em all here. I only tried it in some not-so-deep mud, but they cleaned themselves well and traction was good (better than my old BFG AT's that I had on my YJ). I highly recommend this tire.

I just put on a set of the 33x12.50 TrXus MT's on my CJ7 only 4 days ago. I bought them based on all the praise they've been given but I've only had them on dry land so far. They're actually very quite on the road. Can't wait to get them off-road.
