tire wobble

When I engage my 4wd, hi or low, my front wheels "wobble" when im turning. This occured after a day of muddin and I can only think that it happened when I was in a ditch trying to get out. I had my front whees turned to the left, it wouldnt pull me out and I was going straight down the bank. When in 2wd, no wobble. I had the front end aligned today and no bent parts or anything else, it was slightly out in tow. But it still does it. Anyone have any idea what it may be? U joint or bearing, Im at a loss and any help would be appreciated.

I have a 2001 TJ sport, I-6.

thanks[addsig]

Sounds like a bad u-joint in one of the front axle shafts. Happens when you are using too much throttle when stuck with the wheels turned to full lock.

You can see the ujoint behind the knuckle at the end of the shaft, move it by hand and check for play, or watch it while driving slowly in 4lo.[addsig]

They dont seem to have a lot play, but I will probably change them both out just to be sure...thanks for the info[addsig]

I would have to go along with Bounty on that.[addsig]

Although all 4wd vehicles when in 4wd and turning tight to either side produces a wobbles or a kind of skipping. And it does not do it in 2wd[addsig]

I agree with Jay in 4wd if you turn sharp one way or another
it will create a wobble or like a skipping motion. You can check your
u-joints but I bet everything is fine ...Just my $.02 :-) [addsig]
