The jeep wave

So I'm talking to my cousin today (fellow jeeper) about the wave how he does his signature wave and what to do if someone doesn't wave back. What do you guys do in this situation ?

If I hadn't taken my Ritalin then I would swerve into their path until they saw me waving.

I can usually tell from an approaching distance how enthusiastic someone is, so I try to mirror their enthusiasm. :) One guy gave me the "OK" when he saw my tires, and I thought "Yeah, I like 'em, too!"

When I dont get a wave back, I consider them rookies. And I'll mumble something to myself, especially when they have all the bells and whistles that will never see a trail.

I began seeing a trend where JK owners did not return the wave when 95% of the time TJ/YJ owners did, so I kind of stopped initiating the wave to JK owners. Just yesterday as I was heading out I saw an approaching JK, and figured, why bother... Wouldn't you know it, this guy gives me the wave!

I also find female drivers (regardless of what model they are driving) are less likely to return a wave than male drivers...

I think it all boiler down to who is a jeep fan and who isn't. I have been a jeep fan for years. I knew I would have one. I wanted one since I got my license. I would drive down the road and see jeeps and even thou I didn't have a jeep I would wave. I have been studying them for years. I can look at a jeep and tell you about what year it is. I know all the styles, willies, cj's, yj's, tj's, xj's, jk's and all them. And really wouldn't mind having one of each if I was loaded and had a big huge garage..lol. I think that people who buy the new jeeps aren't jeep fans. They just bought it because it looks and drives cool. And there are probly a few that are still buying the TJ's that aren't really jeep fans. And most of them just aren't yet. Give them some time and they may be. And most girls are probly like"man, this is stupid, all this jeep guys waving at me"..lol

Nah, I couldn't wait to be part of the club. I didn't know that Jeepers waved to each other, just figured so because the Harley club does. So the first one I saw, I waved and got the wave back. I felt like a little kid waving to Santa. :) Not all of us JK girls have it just for show!!!

Nah, I know you were just playing! And shoot, even during the busy season, Santa don't need no stinkin' reindeer! He's got a Jeep!

Ya i have been in the jeep club since age 16 (even tho I'm only 20 ) and it's been my life ever since. I always wave and if someone doesn't wave back it's basically saying I dont care about the other jeepers out there and I kindly lower a couple fingers from my wave leaving none but a thumb and a middle :)

I don't go that far, I just chalk it up to lack of understanding. I have not been a Jeeper than long, and if it hadn't been for this web site and a good mentor (friend with a Jeep), who knows how long it would have taken to figure out why other folks in Jeeps kept trying to get my attention while driving down the road!

Ha ya that last part was mostly a joke but ya my first trip I had like 3 people wave and I ended up asking my dad why and I felt real dumb after words

I got it right away and felt like a silly little kid with a new toy. I'm so happy to have my Jeep.

When I bout my jeep I was informed by the guy at the bank giving me the loan for it that I have to wave ( he drives a jeep)

As soon as I learned about it I was so excited to do it I didnt see a jeep for the whole rest of the day. The first time I actually got to my dad was with me and called me a homo because I waved like a little school girl ha ha

Problem around here is everybody waves (the locals, anyway).......the little 2-fingers off the wheel kinda thing. If it's a Jeep, I consider it a "Jeep wave".

Around here there is a difference between Jeep people, and people who drive a Jeep.
If your trucking down a back road and meet a Jeep your going to get a wave or stop and talk for a while but if your in the city no need to bother waving.
