Swapping a T150 for a T15a?

I have a '78 CJ5 with a 258 six cyl, T150 3sp, and a D20 transfer case.

T150 trans is stuck in 3rd gear...can't get the top cover off.

I have a T15A trans and a D300 transfer case that came with the jeep. Can I swap the T15A in place of the T150? I know that the T15A looks about an inch longer than the T150. Or maybe swap in both the T15A and the D300?

No, it's a T15A. I just rebuilt the T150 since I found out that making the swap would require shortening the driveshafts a little. Shifts fine now, but I've got the T15A and the Scout D300 if anyone is interested. 309-333-seven three six nine.
